COASTGUARD APPEAL FOR MISSING YACHT EQUINOX

A 69-year-old yachtsman from the North Yorkshire area has not been seen or heard from since the 4 July.

Humber Coastguard was contacted by the yachtsman’s family on Thursday 10 July 2014. The missing man last used his bank cards in Germany on 3 July. On the 4 July he telephoned his son to inform him he was planning his passage home on his 17ft yacht Equinox. He was last seen in the Keil Canal, Brunsbuttel, Germany.

Humber Coastguard initiated an air search to sweep the area from Scarborough to the Median line and from Germany, Heligoland to the Median line.  A general alert was put out to the French, Belgian, Dutch Coastguards along with shipping and the Police have logged a missing person’s alert with Interpol.


Humber Coastguard last night also appealed to the yachtsman directly to urgently make contact and inform the Coastguard of his safety and intentions.
The man is missing at this time. Aircraft will resume their search later this morning. 

Humber Coastguard requests that any vessel who believes they may have sighted the yacht to urgently contact them with information.
