UDDER DEDICATION AS COASTGUARDS HELP STRANDED COW
Coastguards
had a late finish last night after they were called out to help rescue a cow
that had become stuck 30ft down a cliff on the Isle of Wight.
Solent
Coastguard was contacted just after 10.30pm last night by the fire service
asking for help to recover the animal at Chilton Chine.
The
Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were sent to the scene to initially
provide safety cover. When they arrived though, the Coastguard rescue officers
were able to encourage the cow the last few feet down to the beach. It was then
led back up the road to be reunited with the owner. Aside from a couple of
small cuts, the cow was otherwise unharmed.
The night
still wasn’t over for the teams however, as they helped the farmer round up his
herd of 47 young cows that had somehow managed to escape from a field along the
coast at Brook.
