SEARCH AT BLACKPOOL

A search was launched this evening for a cyclist who may have been swept into the sea from the promenade at Blackpool.  At 5.10pm a member of the public on the upper promenade called 999 to report to the Coastguard that they had seen a cyclist on the lower promenade who then disappeared after a wave hit.

Lytham and Fleetwood Coastguard Rescue Teams searched the area from the shore both to the north and the south of the incident and Fleetwood RNLI all weather lifeboat searched the water.  The rescue helicopter from RAF Valley completed two searches of the area and nothing has been found.

Graham Parr who is coordinating the search at Liverpool Coastguard says, “After a further search of the shore and the beach after the tide had gone out nothing else was found”
