Just another day at the office...

The HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Caernarfon battled against the elements on Saturday to rescue two cragfast climbers in Snowdonia.

Winch operator Larry Slater and winchman Chris Bradshaw had to use all their skills to rescue the two who were on the Bristly Ridge, as the weather conditions were very difficult.

The helicopter crew was called out at 1.40pm on Saturday (9th), picking up three members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team on the way.

Once on the scene, the MRT members were winched down to help the two climbers, who were then winched up one-by-one and taken to the Ogwen Valley MRT base.

Chief pilot, Captain Dave Kenyon, who was flying the aircraft, said: ‘We were in cloud and very tight up against the cliff. There were some particularly good winch operating and winchman skills from Larry and Chris in difficult circumstances.’
