UK Ship Register welcomes on board green container ship Atlantic Sky

The UK Ship Register recently welcomed the latest addition to the UK flag fleet, the ‘Atlantic Sky’. The 100,430 GT and 296m long roro container ship registered to the UK Flag on 22 March 2017.

‘The addition of Atlantic Sky to the UK flag is exciting news for the UK Ship Register and is the fourth Atlantic Container Lines (ACL) vessel to join us,’ Acting Director of UK Ship Register Richard Pellew said.

‘This delivery is a testament to the experience and hard work of our great team at the UK Ship Register and the excellent collaborative partnership we have enjoyed with Atlantic Container Lines. The new ship is one of a series of five innovative RORO/Containerships (CONRO) and the largest of this type ever built. It incorporates an innovative design that is not only more environmentally friendly and energy efficient than her predecessors, but has an increased capacity without significantly changing the dimensions of the vessel. The container capacity has more than doubled, with 28,900 square metres of RORO space and a car capacity of 1300+ vehicles. Welcoming the Atlantic Sky to the UK Flag is a real investment to the future of UK Ship Register.’
